Peacekeeping
One needn't look far to see ironic uses of the word 'Peacekeeper' in our world and culture.
There are the Peacekeepers in The Hunger Games.
Peacekeeper is the name of a gun in Call of Duty.
There is a real life nuclear ICBM named 'Peacekeeper'.
The Wikipedia page for Peacekeeper lists many more as well.
Not only that, but Peacekeeping is defined as a military endeavor.
This troubles me deeply.
The use of irony is all well and good, but only when it is intentional. Too many of these uses are not intentionally ironic.
Where there is the threat of violence, there can be no peace.
Let us strive to keep true, nonviolent, peace.
