Getting Tired of NixOS

Hey there,

I use and love NixOS. But my goodness can it be frustrating sometimes.

My main issue comes when the auto-updater fails without notice and breaks something.

The updates usually fail because I run out of disc space mid-update.

I'd have fewer issues if I collected the garbage more, but... actually, I don't have a reason why I don't do that.

I don't know.

What I want is a computer that never needs to be updated. Well, not exactly. What I want is a computer that I never have to worry about updating.

I need a stable rolling release, but I don't think that exists.

I don't know.

I really like my minimalist set up that uses a tiling window manager and is terminal focused, but maybe I should just do things the normal way.

Maybe I should just switch to Debian with Gnome and Flatpacks and keep things simple.

Shoot, maybe I should try out GnomeOS. Maybe going all in on 'lacking customization' is the answer to having a computer system that I never have to worry about.

Well, we'll see. In the time it took to write this, I have finally gotten things back on track with NixOS. I guess I'll stick around for a little longer. Turning on auto garbage collection might just be what I need to mitigate most of my frustrations.
